Bridal Shower

Pictures are available in larger sizes on our Shutterfly site.
Thank you to all of our guests and to all those who helped.  It was so nice being surrounded by such wonderful, supportive, loved ones!

Two Months

Boy, oh boy!  Two months to go!  Can you believe it?  We can't.

First round of invitations have gone out and we've already received some responses: so far, no regrets.

Next weekend is our wedding shower.

We still have quite a few things left to do in these next two months, but considering how much has already gotten done, neither of us are stressed!

Here's what is officially done:
  • Catering menu & contract finalized
  • Centerpieces decided upon -- Duncan had lots of input on this =)
  • Favors bought/decided upon
  • "DJ"
  • All the groomsmen went to get sized for their tuxedos (Duncan is so excited to wear his tuxedo!)
  • All the bridesmaids went to get sized for their dresses
  • Bridesmaid bouquets -- Duncan-approved
  • Bridesmaid clutches and gifts purchased
  • Gift to groom from bride purchased
  • Groomsmen gifts decided upon by Duncan
  • Photographer 2nd payment done, putting him 50% paid for
  • Honeymoon all booked
  • Pre-Cana workshop scheduled for May 19
Hmmm... I think that is it....

Tomorrow, the caterer, the wedding coordinator, my mom, myself are meeting at the reception venue with the "managers" of the venue in order to do a walkthrough.

This past weekend was Jaclynn's birthday and the both of us joined her, her boyfriend, and her friends for the Braves homeopener.  Then on Saturday, we took Shelby to the Chattahoochee River for a walk and a swim.  Here are some snapshots:

Hope all of you are doing well!

Save the Dates are out the door!

We mailed off our Save the Dates!  We sent them to mostly our out-of-town guests, so not everyone who will be receiving an invitation will also be receiving a Save the Date.  We both spent time making these homemade Save the Dates that do have magnets on the back, in case anyone wants to put them on their fridge.

Also, courtesy of Amy's mother, Linda, we were able to find a good deal on the hotel for the wedding weekend and we posted the information on our official Wedding Website as well as briefly on this blog in the Wedding Details section.  This hotel offers more services than the others in the area and is close in proximity to the wedding weekend events.

One Big Fuss Leads to One Big Step Forward

(modified icon from here)
Big news included, but first a bit of background information. :)

Before even being officially engaged, we decided to meet with our Priest in order to discern our vocation for marriage. With Duncan graduating this summer and myself entering my last year of schooling, the conversation of our future came up, especially since we weren't sure where Duncan would land a job. As Catholics, this decision would not be entered in to lightly. It was important to us that we were as prepared as possible before making such a commitment and the Church does such a wonderful job preparing couples.

Anyways, we went to meet with our Priest-- whom we love so so much! And know you all will, too!-- and he informed us that our home Church would be under reconstruction next year and cannot commit to holding any weddings because they wouldn't be sure when the reconstruction would be commenced for a wedding to be hosted. He said we could, however, go to another Church. Knowing which Church would be ideal for the location, we contacted them to get information on how we could go about booking a date. Duncan wanted June, and I really did as well. We fell in love with one particular date, only to find out that that date was already booked and many others were starting to get booked up!

After many, many emails back and forth between the churches, and many games of phone tag between our Priest and the Priest of the parish we were trying to book (they had to speak on the phone with each other in order to book any dates), we all finally agreed upon a date. We are quite excited to have one in June, since June and July was pretty booked up already! - and this church offers three times a day to marry!

So, our wedding date (*drum roll, please*): June 16, 2012!

Since that is less than a year away, we are working on getting our Save the Dates made and sent just so that people who have to travel have all the information they need! So stay tuned! And have a lovely rest of your day!!
